THE MARKETING JOURNEY

Shelley started her Shelley Marketing business in 2023 whilst full-time working. During this time I only had the capacity to take on a few small contracts. In the past few years I have been in high stress senior marketing roles. I have more recently decided I want to go out on my own. I have the skillset, the background and people skills. I have taken a financial step back in hope to gradually scale up further and take a step forward. I hope you would like to come along the journey with me.

After completing my Degree in 2012 (and a bit of travel). I worked at Brimbank Council for three years, where I developed skills in Centralised Marketing, Introducing Social Media platforms aligned with Council Policy and procedures, signage, wall decals across their Leisure Facilities, redesigning centralised templates across multiple sites, digital signage implementation, running campaigns and implementing email marketing.

I then got into Construction Marketing where a formulated a strategy for a demerger. I setup processes, policies, procedures, developed a new brand, website, staff strategy sessions including values, mission and vision statements. I managed signage and customer journey experience for a new office and factory relocation including backlit  signage, wall decals and more.

 

I was then offered a promotional opportunity at another construction company where I oversaw six companies, setup new businesses from a marketing perspective, centralised systems, initiated radio advertising aligned with campaigns, worked alongside and briefed phone messaging systems, setup new office spaces, coordinated videography and marketplace listings.

My next job opportunity was in Shopping Centre Marketing where I oversaw the Victorian profile within our Agency. These shopping centres collectively had over 100 retailers across diverse industries exposing me to different business models, unique selling points and strategies. I performed many strategies for individual businesses and the broader shopping centres. I ran activations and events to drive foot traffic, implemented a social media strategy, developed a National Branding Document for our portfolio of shopping centres, centralised a sales reporting dashboard alongside a consultant and managed all aspects of the annual marketing strategy for the Victorian Shopping Centres. I co-ordinated in-centre signage including new shopfront hoarding decals, front of shopping centre flags, videography campaigns, photoshoots, directional signage and promotional signage. I analysed digital statistics including in-centre foot traffic. Analysed Return on Investment for campaigns and managed all aspects of the budget. Unfortunately due to a new investor buy-out of the shopping centres our Marketing Agency lost the portfolio of shopping centres which has eventually led me to making this leap into
